It seems like venting the roof before lighting it off would have made for a more efficient burn 🔥 and possibly cleaner
How did the original fire start?
Have not heard cause yet.
So lets just store a bunch of fireworks in the garage of a residential home. What a stellar idea!! 😂
The US fire department cannot put out fires because they are too crazy, there are hundreds of examples, wood burns well - you put it out with WATER
Halt die Klappe, Idiot. Sie wissen überhaupt nichts über die Brandbekämpfung in irgendeinem Land.
Oh, so let’s have a play day and inconvenience the neighbors and displace them from their homes, let THEM incur toxic smoke…and, make it difficult for them to get up and down their street to live their regular lives, just for our self indulgence. Controlled burns are suppose to be that - controlled and in a controlled environment, which this is NOT! How incredibly unprofessional and wreck-less of these thoughtless agencies. What a fiasco.
From someone who's NEVER fought a fire...
Whenever AFT is involved, expect a clown show, that's what happens when you bring in the circus.
@@ffjsb As a Fire Cheif I fully agree with @ffjsb there are other ways to train
Why not cut holes in the roof so the fire and heat could go straight up?
They’re VFDs. Not the real thing.
There was absolutely NO REASON to go interior with fireworks still going off in the garage. They should've brought a 2 1/2" line up, and used it first. I don't know why the officer at 4:48 thought it was a good idea to go interior with no hood on in a garage with fireworks still going off... SMH.
When did we stop catching the plug and laying the supply into an obviously working structure fire?
@@sivkovich Depends on the situation. If you KNOW you have a second engine close, they can take care of water supply. That's pretty much a standard SOP around here. The exception is when you know the next engine is going to be delayed, it's a fully involved structure requiring a master stream from the start, or there won't be room for a second engine to lay a line in. But the first in company communicates what's needed when they arrive.
Clown show
Should stop quickly and grab the hydrant only takes a minute or two a lot less time hand jacking hose back to the hydrant. I know there is move engines coming but your out of water before they get there
So wait, this wasn’t training? I don’t understand lol
The details are in the description below the video.
@@FIREGROUNDIMAGES my bad
@Burnedandbroken Oh no problem at all!
For whatever reason, the house was "excessively loaded" with fireworks. It's asking for trouble - like lighting candles all around your house with a dozen golden retrievers inside, and then walking away. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. .
Connecticut had severe weather the days prior to this controlled burn and lightning most likely struck the house causing ignition of the large amounts of fireworks inside but in the initial fire call all of the fireworks didn't go off so they had a deadly situation on their hands because they had unburned fireworks in the structure that were ready to explode but haven't so they had to get rid of them by setting the house on fire again.
BATFE has standards in handling certain types of events similar to this. But by all public accounts on the board so far and what we've seen in the video. Some agency are currently getting deluged with calls and FOIA requests. Their's a large private group of experts in Fireworks and explosives. Who have started their own investigation into this matter. From the video of them burning down the home and their isn't any visible signs of 1.1G or 1.3G products detonating. Is a cause of alarm in this situation and how inexperienced fire and law enforcement agencies might want to conduct themselves in the future.
😊
Hey how come I never see any fire incident videos from Bridgeport?
I have quite a few. Just a little farther of a drive for me.
Wonder if his insurance will deny a claim
Absolutely they will, hopefully he didn't sign anything agreeing to allow this to happen. There's a community of fireworks n explosives experts who are currently looking into this matter. Someone is gonna look real stupid at their Depositions
They let the family get all of their belongings that survived out before the controlled burn. The fireworks inside weren’t your regular ones you’d buy at a fireworks stand. They were commercial-grade ones hooked to a detonator board that was compromised.
All that stuff that was going during the initial fire were consumer based products 1.4. There is currently a private group of experts looking into this matter.and in the coming weeks and months there will be a extensive over view and break down video on this matter. Gonna be a lot of questions needing answer's
What a laugh! That doesn’t mean that this detonator board is now a booby trapped, time bomb. Good grief. Just dismantle the detonator board…problem solved and all of this pointless drama avoided.
Соплижуи какие-то
Both of those neighbors houses are going to be saturated with toxic smoke.
The house on the left started to go around 4:30, you can see it start smoking. Hope they sue the FD, PD, city, and AFT and everyone else involved in this clown show for any damage caused by the hoses and/or improperly controlling their 'controlled' burn.
It looked like a beautiful home. May I ask what was wrong with it 😢
Full article is in the description under the video.
Massive amount of fireworks inside that ignited and set the house on fire just days prior during a severe storm.
can see the TEARS in AOC;s eyes as the smoke rises..
Why the F does everything have to political. This homeowner put his neighbors lives and homes in great danger
I’m curious as to how many fireworks were in the house was it hundreds or thousands of fireworks?
Very large amount.
It's so sad when someone loses their home thay worked so hard for 😢😢😢
If the fireworks were the cause then they only have themselves to blame.
What on earth are they doing, is this a fire drill? And did the neighbours agree to this?
Yes neighbors were evacuated the man had hoarded old volatile fireworks that were unstable and dangerous to unload from the house. You saw the previous fire, charges of some sort were filed and this controlled planned burn was done
Did the family manage to get their belongings out that survived or did they burn those with the house?
The fire chief should be fired and the homeowner should sue.consumer fireworks in that garage was stable before they lit them and then it became unstable. Consumer fireworks are not built that way if so you can’t sell to consumers. Those were not professional fireworks in that garage it would have blown the whole garage up at once
Why does he have to be fired ?
WTF are you talking about?
@@frmerrin2 I work in the the fireworks business that’s wtf I’m talking about . Consumer fireworks don’t just burn like that arm chair opinion person.
@@fppyro5127 WRONG. Just because you work the register at the fireworks store, it doesn't make you an expert.
Im hearing that the call was made to light them in the garage because they did not like what they saw. (A controlled burn)@@frmerrin2
Handlines would've been better to protect the exposures, you just neet to keep them wet, not blast them with a master stream.
Thanks, armchair fire chief. 🙄
@@mikeymcmikeface5599 Please let me know when you have 40+ years fighting fire, with NUMEROUS certifications, and a major in Fire Science. Other than video games and trolling, what are YOUR qualifications???
@@mikeymcmikeface5599 Son, let me know when you've got 40+ years on the job, NUMEROUS certifications, and a major in Fire Science. The only qualifications you have are playing video games and being a sorry troll.
0:42, it's absolutely stupid to be standing in front of burning fireworks without ALL your PPE on. And there's NO reason to be IN the garage with them on fire.
They didn’t know until they began to go off and even then they had no idea the place was loaded with them
@@jeffreymartin6369 They clearly knew at 0:42, yet still made poor choices...
Wy do they keep on all the flashing LED lamps wile the whole area is secured> No amber light used as work warning lights?
I work for a utility company and the amber lights are a joke!
Is this really the biggest problem you have in your life right now?
Now it makes sense. Saw this article in Firehouse magazine. The linked video said nothing about an earlier fire. Had to do some digging to find this info. Just goes to show there's usually more to a story.
The cement block wall they built in front of the garage wouldn’t of also been great along the 2 and 4 exposures protecting both houses. Instead they water damaged the house and took a risk
That is always harder to watch when it’s a house that somebody had a lot of pride in making look nice.
Why would you omit toxins into the air and neighborhood . Seems unnecessary .
Shut up
😂😂😂😂
Would the neighbour have managed to get extra insurance to cover water damage from that much water sprayed on their house , i know it rains im not daft but not in that volume
Thankfully the rains came. Or this vid would be 3 hours longer.
I honestly can’t understand all the armchair firefighting in this comment section. You people were not there, have no idea of the planning that went into this, and quite frankly have NO business talking about it. Your assanine comments are why a lot of places don’t post their videos. Get out of the comment section and go do some real firefighting.
Oh I didn’t know this channel was for professional firefighters only. So it’s not alright to get questions answered and learn? Ok.
@@yuvgotubekidding Asking questions isn't armchair firefighting.
😂😂😂, theres already a private investigation launched into the handling of this situation. From outside of that community by real experts in fireworks and explosives. To the folks who made the call to burn the rest of this house down, i hope they followed their own ATFE guidelines and recorded everything in a investigation. Because my understanding of why they claimed to burn it down, makes absolutely zero sense. And by the final fire shows ZERO EVIDENCE of 1.1G or 1.3G products detonating. I know a lot of calls have already been made and FOIA paperwork is dumping into all involved.
@@shanestamball1886 UH, the ATF ARE REAL EXPERTS on fireworks... SMH. Don't want your house burnt down?? Don't fill it with illegal fireworks.
I would have liked a house like that. Such a waste!
You would have like a house that was completely destroyed by a fire?
@@juancena930aren't you smart one
They should have their heads examined?
Most idiotic thing ive ever heard of in almost 30 years in the fire service
Insurance company most likely decided the original fire destroyed the home, would cost too much to repair it
If you mean storing fireworks inside your own home, I totally agree. I bet their homeowners insurance refuses to pay out on the loss due to this. All for blowing up fireworks on yet another 4th of July?? Dumb Dumb Dumb.
@@dock_yard1149unfortunately insurance companies cannot deny a claim based on stupidity. Standard homeowners policy covers fire, could only deny if it was intentionally set by the policy holder.
@@dock_yard1149clearly you don't know laws surrounding fireworks, and there storage laws. There is currently a large group of experts outside of that community who have launched a private investigation into this matter.
They did that to my sister's former home after she sold it to a Company that wanted to enlarge their plant. Watching that was a unique experience!
The moment they said a “ controlled burn,” I knew they were going to burn his house down. Sending a message to all home owners at the approach of the 4th.
Gotta love comments from people who have no idea what went into the decision, which was made by experts from multiple agencies. A friend taught me the term, "keyboard warriors." Ha!
Did they allow the people there to get all their stuff out? If not that is insane.
I think they did.
Holy hell, why wouldn't the belongings and anything salvageable bee allowed to be removed? The amount of comments thinking that belongings were not allowed to be removed is unreal.
This is the dumbest idea ever. You soak the fireworks enough you're not gonna have any type of explosive to worry about. Now homes on both sides are gonna have smoke and heat damage
Whats DUMB is, prioritizing fireworks storage inside your home over the safety of the home itself and occupants!! Insurance co probably will refuse to pay out, or at very least they will drag out payment negotiations endlessly. Smarten up, explosives lovers!!
WRONG. Getting fireworks wet makes them unstable. That's an old wives tale. That's why they had to burn them in place, because they became unstable from getting wet in the first fire.
@@ffjsbWRONG. “Soak Fireworks in Water Fully submerge both used and unused (duds/malfunctions) fireworks in a bucket of water. Let them soak for at least 15 minutes to several hours to ensure they are completely saturated.” ~ Fire Marshal, American Fork, UT “Recycling and Solid Waste staff recommend following these tips when disposing of used (or unused) fireworks: Completely submerge fireworks in a bucket of water. Allow to soak at least 15 minutes or overnight for larger fireworks.” ~ City of Sacramento, CA “The Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority has provided advice on how to dispose of fireworks in a statement Tuesday. Improperly disposed of fireworks can be dangerous to sanitation workers, trucks and solid waste facilities, the statement said. @@ffjsb black powder is hydroscopic. It absorbs moisture and water rendering it useless. It is precisely what professional operations do to their own after a display if they fail to operate as intended. This was an unnecessary risk to the neighbor's homes and the neighborhood in general. If the only precautions taken were some pathetic stackable jersey barriers, then the material in the garage could have been disposed of another way. The neighbor's homes will absolutely suffer smoke damage and water damage. State Police have hazmat and bomb squads for a reason.
This is very interesting never imagined they get a call like this
Were the dump tanks supplemental water or was the shuttle the primary source ?
Supplemental.
You have to have some pretty understanding neighbors to let that house 'go up' again. Having your house doused with high pressure water. IDK.
